Secrets of Stellenbosch ~ 3 Nights / 4 DaysENQUIRE NOW
OVERVIEW
With over 300 years of history behind Stellenbosch and laying claim to the second oldest town in South Africa, this is a place of beauty, history, fine wines and great food. Wide open streets that used to accommodate the ox-wagons and horse and cart in years gone by, now are dotted with trendy cafés, coffee bars, restaurants, boutiques and galleries. Surrounded by dramatic mountains and rolling vineyards, this is a fine place to spend a few days.
The romance of the countryside combined with elegant wine estates and quality restaurants are all part of the charm of Stellenbosch.
Who will enjoy this tour ~ Couples, families & friends. Stellenbosch is a special destination for everyone.
Day 1 – 3: Luxury Historic Working Wine Farm
Arrive Cape Town International and be whisked away by your chauffeur who will be waiting for you as you enter the Arrivals Hall. You will be staying in luxury accommodation on a historic working farm in Stellenbosch.
On the day of arrival, it is time to relax and enjoy the country air and the charm of staying on a luxury wine estate. Go for a walk and stretch your legs in the vineyards, or find a shady oak tree in the gardens, chill out and read a book with a bottle of wine from the Estate.
Dinner that evening will be in one of the top restaurants in Stellenbosch, housed in a building dating back to the 1800’s, serving South African cuisine with a gourmet touch. It is a twist of contemporary and tradition that is rather unique.
The following day starts with a brief walking tour through Stellenbosch, before heading off to one of the oldest wine estates in the Cape for a picnic lunch.
The afternoon is at leisure; with hot summer days made for downtime at the pool. And, if you are a winter guest, sitting inside on comfy sofas alongside a roaring fire with a glass of port is a perfect way to spend an afternoon. If you are wanting to be more active, we can hire an eBike for you so you can go and explore the area on your own for a couple of hours.
That evening is a chilled and relaxed with dinner at a local tapas bar.
Day two brings new adventures and new discoveries…
Today we are going on a private tour to the Hidden Valley, where we visit an Olive farm and enjoy an Olive Oil tasting, before travelling to our second destination, a mountain vineyard. It is the highest in the region and offers an abundance of photo opportunities. In this special place which is guarded over by soaring eagles, you taste the premium estate wines and the one you enjoy the most, is then served alongside a cheese and charcuterie platter in the cellar. After lunch, we head back to your abode, you will have a few hours to yourself before the evening comes around.
Depending on the season, we are either going for a dinner under the stars on an historic farm or sharing platters with long tables set up in the vineyards, or cosy fireside evenings with traditional potjies (rich & hearty stews) and regional specialities, or it could be the famous South African braai (BBQ) enjoyed with locals. This is a fun evening with a different dining experience.
Day three brings an end to your time in Stellenbosch, after breakfast your driver will be there to whisk you off for your next adventure.
